Charles Chukwuemeka Abana Takes Over as Acting Chairman of Fiscal Responsibility Commission
The newly appointed Acting Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Barrister Charles Chukwuemeka Abana, has officially resumed work, directing senior officials to ensure full staff engagement through well-structured schedules and clearly defined responsibilities.
Abana, who served as the Commission’s most senior Director before his appointment, emphasised that effective leadership requires collective effort.
He stated that the successful enforcement of the Fiscal Responsibility Act depends on discipline, teamwork, and strong institutional commitment across all directorates.Addressing staff welfare concerns, the Acting Chairman assured employees that management would remain responsive to issues relating to remuneration and workplace conditions. However, he urged workers to demonstrate greater professionalism, loyalty, and dedication in the performance of their duties.
He also announced that strict measures would be introduced to enforce punctuality and workplace discipline. On capacity building, Abana explained that knowledge-sharing allowances would only be paid to staff who participate actively in mandatory knowledge-sharing programmes, noting that attendance and engagement are key requirements.
The Acting Chairman further disclosed that initiatives are underway to improve the working environment of the Commission and encouraged staff members to collaborate in strengthening the institution and protecting its statutory mandate.
In separate goodwill messages, the leadership of the Commission’s two labour unions congratulated Abana on his appointment and pledged their support for management policies aimed at promoting industrial harmony and organisational growth.
