Wike Grants Land Titles to FCT Chiefs, Waives Fees on Tinubu’s Directive

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has fulfilled a key promise to indigenous communities by presenting land allocation documents to members of the FCT Council of Chiefs, with all statutory fees waived following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The gesture is part of efforts to deepen the relationship between government authorities and indigenous institutions, while acknowledging the longstanding presence of native communities in the FCT. Wike reiterated the administration’s resolve to support individuals and groups contributing to peace and development, noting that indigenous people existed in the territory long before the establishment of the FCT.
He also praised the traditional rulers for their role in ensuring peaceful conduct during the Area Council elections and assured them of additional support, including the provision of utility vehicles to enhance their operational effectiveness in maintaining peace.
Furthermore, the Minister pointed to ongoing infrastructure development across satellite towns, citing major projects such as the dualization of the Airport-Kuje road and the Bwari-Zuba link road, both of which are expected to be commissioned in June.
In response, the Chairman of the FCT Council of Chiefs, Alhaji (Dr.) Adamu Baba Yunusa, expressed appreciation to both the President and the FCT Minister, while reaffirming the council’s continued backing of the administration’s policies and programmes.
