The National Assembly has passed the over sixty-eight point four trillion naira 2026 budget presented to it.
The report of the Senate Appropriation Committee on the budget was presented by its Chairman, Senator Solomon Olamilekan, on Tuesday during plenary.

The budget is an increase from the fifty-eight point one trillion naira 2026 Appropriation Bill presented to a joint session of the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu in December 2025.

The increase of over nine trillion naira came as a result of the inclusion of 2025 outstanding legacy obligations, health, MOFI, feasibility studies for the Calabar-Maiduguri corridor and Maiduguri-Sokoto Superhighway, Court of Appeal, judiciary, Supreme Court, amongst others.
After the presentation and passage of the budget, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, thanked both the Senate and House of Representatives for a thorough job.
