The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 31 suspected internet fraudsters during a sting operation at a suspected “Yahoo academy” located in Becki Estate, Karu, Abuja.
According to a statement by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the operation resulted in the arrest of two alleged ringleaders along with several trainees.

The statement adds that items recovered from the scene include mobile phones, 18 laptops, and other electronic devices.
Preliminary investigations, as disclosed, suggest that some of the recruits were enticed from Benue State with promises of legitimate employment opportunities.
It further notes that the victims were reportedly confined, had their movements restricted, and were provided with tools used for cyber fraud, alongside claims of strict disciplinary measures.
The anti-graft agency also confirmed that the suspects will be prosecuted upon the completion of investigations.
