A Benue-born business mogul and philanthropist, Dr. Godwin Kave, has begun a week-long celebration of his 50th birthday with a large-scale medical outreach in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.

The outreach, which took place on Monday at LGEA Primary School, Tofi, Mbaade in Mbagen, drew residents from surrounding communities, with over 1,000 people benefiting from free healthcare services.

The programme offered medical consultations, deworming for children, treatment of common ailments such as malaria, and distribution of basic health materials.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kave clarified that the initiative was purely humanitarian and not politically motivated.
“Some people have been asking if I’m eyeing a political position. But I always tell them that I’m not in politics and I don’t know when I will join politics,” he said.
He noted that his exposure from travels abroad inspired him to replicate development-focused initiatives in his community, particularly in healthcare and human capital development.
As part of the kick-off activities, Dr. Kave also distributed exercise books to pupils of Tofi Primary School, underscoring his commitment to supporting education among young people.
The outreach also featured the launch of an empowerment and skills acquisition programme, as well as the distribution of materials to women to boost their small-scale businesses.
Chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Paul Iorapuu, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in development, noting that government alone cannot meet all societal needs.
“Government cannot do it alone. Individuals must also complement its efforts by reaching out to people in their own ways,” he said.
Beneficiaries, including Mrs. Angbiandoo Aondowase, Mrs. Awashima Sesugh, Mr. Tyozenda Solomon Udeh, Mr. Atov Zevanyi, and Mr. Tyokosu James Terkimbi, expressed gratitude to Dr. Kave for the initiative and prayed for continued blessings upon him and his family.
Mr. Udeh encouraged residents to take advantage of such opportunities, while also urging other well-meaning indigenes of Buruku to emulate Dr. Kave’s gesture.
“I am learning paint production here, while others are being trained in perfume making, soap production and other skills,” he said.
Dr. Kave, widely known for his commitment to grassroots development, has consistently supported vulnerable groups through interventions in healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.
Further speaking in Makurdi, the philanthropist revealed that the Golden Jubilee celebration would continue on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with the launch of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ICT training programme for youths at Government Model College, Makurdi.
He added that he would also visit the International Market Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp to support displaced persons.
Other activities lined up include the launch of a scholarship scheme for tertiary students in Gboko, the final of a football tournament in Mbagen, and a grand finale in Makurdi featuring a colloquium, book presentation, and the unveiling of the Kave Economic Empowerment Foundation (KEEF).
The celebration will conclude with a thanksgiving Mass and a traditional reception at his residence in Makurdi.
