According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Edun has been directed to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.
The memo also announced that Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as the ministerial nominee and Minister-designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
Arc. Dangiwa has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry as part of the transition process.
It further directed that all handing-over procedures must be concluded on or before the close of work on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Explaining the rationale behind the reshuffle, Akume stated that the changes are intended to strengthen cohesion and synergy within the government, as well as improve the delivery of economic outcomes for Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
