KGA Media Services Honours FUHSO Bursar, Dr Akpa, With Award of Excellence

The Bursar of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Benue State, Dr Paul Hassan Akpa, has been honoured with a Special Award of Excellence by KGA Media Services, publishers of KGA NewsPoint Magazine, for his contributions to financial governance, leadership, education and community development.

The award was presented during a ceremony held in Abuja and attended by media practitioners, traditional rulers, professionals and other stakeholders from across the country.

Presenting the award, the Editorial Consultant of KGA NewsPoint Magazine, Mr Archibong Esuene, who represented the Special Project Editor, Mr Ingji Gukas, described Dr Akpa as a distinguished accountant, administrator and community leaderb whose life exemplifies integrity, excellence and service to humanity.

Esuene said the award was instituted to recognise individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to societal development.

According to him, Dr Akpa has consistently distinguished himself through accountability, transparency and sound financial management in both public and private institutions.

He noted that before his appointment as Bursar of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Dr Akpa successfully served as Bursar of the Federal University Wukari, Taraba State, where he completed a five-year tenure.

The organisers further stated that Dr Akpa’s leadership extends beyond professional accomplishments, describing him as a respected son of Igala land and holder of the traditional title of Omachi Ata’Igala-Ika (Waali).

They also commended him for supporting youth and women empowerment programmes, educational development and humanitarian activities without discrimination based on tribe, religion or gender.

The citation at the event highlighted Dr Akpa’s academic and professional accomplishments, noting that he holds degrees in Accountancy, Accounting and Finance, and is a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), and the African Institute of Public Administration.

In goodwill messages, President of the Coalition of Northern Youths Forum of Nigeria, Amb. Iliya Danladi, described Dr Akpa as a man whose life reflects humility, sacrifice and commitment to humanity.

Danladi praised the award recipient for his philanthropic interventions and investments in education through Living Winners Model Schools, saying he had contributed to nurturing future leaders.

Also speaking, Mr Adaji Habib of the Igala Heritage Foundation commended Dr Akpa’s leadership at FUHSO, noting that he had demonstrated transparency, visionary leadership and administrative excellence.

Speaking after receiving the award, Dr Akpa described the recognition as a reflection of God’s kindness and a testament to a life dedicated to diligence, integrity and selfless service.

His wife, Mrs Ojomachewn Akpa, in a vote of thanks, appreciated the organisers and guests for honouring her husband, whom she described as a humanitarian and a leader worthy of emulation.

The event attracted dignitaries from different sectors, including representatives of the Ameagba Clan of Ika Kingdom, education administrators and associates who congratulated the award recipient and prayed for greater impact and continued service to humanity.
