The Transmission Company of Nigeria (Transmission Company of Nigeria) has confirmed an attempted armed robbery at its Ogbomosho Transmission Substation in the early hours of Sunday, 10 May 2026.

The incident, which was disclosed on Tuesday by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, involved a group of armed men who reportedly gained unauthorized access to the facility by scaling the perimeter fence near the main gate between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

According to preliminary findings, the intruders moved directly toward the gate house in an apparent attempt to overpower and immobilize vigilante security personnel on duty.

However, the security team responded swiftly, firing warning shots that forced the attackers to retreat. The suspects subsequently fled through the same route they used to enter the premises.

During the hurried escape, some of the assailants reportedly abandoned tools and personal belongings close to the perimeter fence.

A post-incident inspection conducted at dawn revealed additional items suspected to have been used in the attempted attack, along with visible footprints and traces of blood leading toward the escape point.

No staff members or security personnel sustained injuries during the attack.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to protecting national power infrastructure and ensuring the safety of personnel across its installations nationwide.
