After Key Political and National Engagements in Lagos, Tinubu Returns to FCT

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after spending the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he participated in a number of political, governmental and national engagements.


The President’s aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 5:17 p.
m. He was welcomed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu; and other senior government officials.
During the holiday period, President Tinubu received Vice President Kashim Shettima and several delegations who paid the traditional Sallah homage. Among them was the leadership of the Senate led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The President also hosted members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum led by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. APC stakeholders from Oyo State, including the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, as well as APC candidates for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly from Lagos State, also visited him.
On Monday, President Tinubu attended the International Fleet Review at the Eko Atlantic City Waterfront as part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy. During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels—NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara.
The President also held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Benin, His Excellency Romuald Wadagni. The meeting underscored the longstanding friendship, regional cooperation and economic partnership between both neighbouring countries.
Prior to the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, President Tinubu was in Lagos to participate in the All Progressives Congress primaries, where candidates were elected for the State House of Assembly, governorship, House of Representatives, Senate and Presidency.
Tinubu cast his vote during the party’s primary election in Lagos and was overwhelmingly endorsed nationwide by nearly 11 million voters as the APC’s flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election.
