Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has alleged that some politicians are sponsoring kidnappers responsible for the abduction of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area and has vowed to reveal their identities if the activities continue.

Igboho made the allegation while receiving newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students, led by Akinteye Babatunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan on Wednesday.

In a video that has circulated widely online, the activist claimed that certain politicians were providing financial support and ammunition to criminal groups operating within the state. He warned that he would publicly identify those involved if they failed to stop their alleged actions.
According to him, he possesses information about the individuals behind the criminal activities and accused them of supplying weapons and funds to the kidnappers.
Igboho further stated that he had volunteered to lead efforts aimed at flushing the kidnappers out of their hideouts but alleged that the Oyo State Government declined his offer.
He maintained that he never requested financial assistance from the administration of Seyi Makinde to participate in rescue operations involving the abducted pupils.
The activist expressed confidence that the kidnappers could be driven out of their hideouts if he were allowed to intervene, insisting that they were not beyond reach.
He also claimed that government officials later informed him that the abductors had threatened to kill the children if he attempted any rescue mission.
According to Igboho, the security personnel under his command are capable of dislodging criminal elements from forested areas across the region if given official approval.
Speaking on his security outfit, “Iru Ekun,” he said the Federal Government approved the initiative but alleged that the Oyo State Government restricted its operations within the state.
He stated that despite obtaining federal approval, state authorities insisted that no independent security outfit should operate on its own and warned that any attempt by him to rescue the abducted children could put their lives at risk.
Igboho also linked rising insecurity in parts of the country to what he described as attempts by certain political actors to undermine the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Drawing a comparison with the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, he alleged that some individuals were using insecurity and propaganda to make governance difficult for the current President.
The activist expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, claiming that the President contributed to securing his freedom during his period of exile abroad.
His remarks come weeks after gunmen reportedly abducted at least 45 pupils during coordinated attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15.
The affected institutions were Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School.
The abductions heightened concerns across Oyo State, prompting security agencies to intensify efforts to locate the perpetrators, who reportedly escaped into forest areas around Oriire communities and the Old Oyo National Park axis.
Earlier, a teacher at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Elizabeth Olagoke, told journalists that the attackers communicated in Yoruba, Hausa, and Pidgin English during the operation.
