Women Entrepreneurs Launch National Movement to Drive Economic Growth, Support Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda

A new women-led movement aimed at empowering female entrepreneurs and expanding economic opportunities across Nigeria has been launched in Abuja, with a commitment to advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening women’s participation in national development.

The organisation, known as the Business Women of Influence for Renewed Hope Agenda, unveiled its vision at a colourful ceremony attended by political leaders, business executives, traditional rulers and women representatives from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking at the launch, the National Convener and Director-General of the group, Ngozi Oyewole, described the initiative as a transformative movement designed to harness the economic and leadership potential of Nigerian women.

“Today is not just the launch of an organisation; it is the birth of a movement that will help shape Nigeria’s future through the power of women,” she said.

Oyewole explained that the organisation would focus on supporting women-owned businesses through mentorship programmes, skills development, strategic partnerships and advocacy aimed at creating a more enabling environment for female entrepreneurs.

According to her, special attention will be given to improving access to finance, markets and business opportunities for women, particularly those operating in rural communities.

“Our mission is to empower women entrepreneurs, encourage innovation, promote leadership and advocate policies that improve the lives of women, children and vulnerable Nigerians,” she stated.

The group also expressed strong support for the economic reforms being implemented by President Tinubu, describing them as necessary measures to reposition Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

Oyewole commended the President for what she described as courageous leadership in pursuing reforms aimed at rebuilding the nation’s economic foundations.

“President Tinubu never promised an easy journey. What he promised was leadership, courage and renewed hope,” she said.

She further applauded Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her commitment to women’s empowerment through the Renewed Hope Initiative, noting that the programme has continued to impact women, youths and vulnerable groups across the country.

Beyond economic empowerment, BWI-RHA pledged to champion initiatives focused on child protection, community safety and institutional strengthening. The organisation also expressed solidarity with families of missing children and promised to support advocacy and awareness programmes aimed at safeguarding children.

The launch attracted prominent political figures, government officials, business leaders and women delegates from across Nigeria, signalling what organisers described as the beginning of a nationwide mobilisation effort to expand women’s influence in economic and public affairs.

In a call to action, Oyewole urged women to embrace their role as catalysts for national transformation.

“Let history record that when Nigeria called, women answered. When hope was needed, women rose. And when national transformation required partners, women stepped forward,” she said.

Also speaking at the event, President of the National Council of Women’s Societies, Princess Edna Azura, described the launch as a significant milestone in the quest for women’s empowerment and inclusion.

She called for greater unity among women and renewed advocacy for increased female representation in governance, lamenting the low number of women occupying elective positions and seats in the National Assembly.

Azura urged women across the country to continue supporting one another, uphold family values and contribute to efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability and national progress.

The launch of BWI-RHA comes amid growing calls for increased participation of women in governance, business and leadership, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the movement will provide a stronger platform for advancing women’s economic empowerment and national development goals.
