The Nation That Defies Explanation
By Dr jalarth Uche Opara
Nigeria is a joke so profoundly humorous that laughter often becomes the only sane response to its absurdities.
It is a country of such complexity and contradiction that no human mind has completely deciphered it.
No scholar, philosopher, economist, or political genius has been able to explain its endless paradoxes in a manner that fully satisfies reason.
The deeper you try to understand Nigeria, the more elusive it becomes. Every answer births new questions; every solution uncovers fresh problems.
Perhaps the greatest irony is this: if you ever convince yourself that you have finally understood Nigeria, you may have begun to suffer from the symptoms of chronic mendacity—for in Nigeria, certainty is often the first casualty of reality.
Nigeria is not merely a country to be studied; it is a phenomenon to be experienced, endured, and, sometimes, laughed at.
Na me talk am!! It is only in Nigeria that the story of Adeniyi Adeyemi and Femi Gbajabiamila makes sense. It is only in Nigeria that snakes, cockroaches, monkeys etc swallow money and it makes sense and it becomes a topic for debate
