CMTV Begins Five-Day Pre-Launch Training in Abuja

The Group Managing Director of Cable Mission Television (CMTV), Sir Godfrey Ohuabunwa, has called on participants at the station’s five-day pre-takeoff workshop to embrace the organisation’s vision as the foundation for building a world-class broadcasting institution.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop in Abuja, Ohuabunwa said the training was organised to familiarise participants with the vision, mission and core values of Cable Mission Television before they assume technical and operational responsibilities.
He explained that CMTV is designed as a multi-platform broadcast station that will operate through satellite, terrestrial and digital platforms, with both short-term and long-term plans aimed at expanding its presence across Nigeria, Africa and other parts of the world.
According to him, the opening session deliberately focused on the station’s vision instead of technical broadcasting, noting that practical sessions would be handled by experienced specialists throughout the workshop.
Ohuabunwa said participants must first understand the organisation’s identity, purpose and direction before receiving training in television production, broadcasting and media operations.
He noted that the workshop attracted professionals from diverse backgrounds, including media practitioners, administrators, managers and graduates from different disciplines, making it necessary to adopt a structured and gradual learning process.
The CMTV Group Managing Director said participants would undergo practical training in television production, newsroom operations, studio management and broadcast ethics as the programme progresses.
He added that seasoned journalists and media professionals would also train participants in news gathering, news writing, editing and production to equip them with the skills needed for professional broadcasting.
Ohuabunwa stressed the important role of journalists as gatekeepers, explaining that media professionals are responsible for selecting, verifying and presenting information accurately, fairly and in the public interest before it reaches the audience.

He reminded participants that successful broadcasting involves more than appearing before a camera, stressing that professionalism requires research, verification, planning, sound editorial judgment and strict adherence to ethical standards.
He encouraged participants to remain committed to learning throughout the workshop, expressing confidence that a solid understanding of broadcasting principles would enable them to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the station.
Ohuabunwa explained that introducing the organisation’s vision at the beginning of the training was intended to ensure that every participant clearly understood CMTV’s goals and their individual roles in achieving them.
He urged participants to see themselves as partners in building Cable Mission Television into a credible media organisation dedicated to professionalism, quality programming, education, information and the promotion of positive societal values.
The five-day pre-takeoff workshop is expected to provide participants with the knowledge, practical skills and professional orientation required for the successful commencement of operations at Cable Mission Television.
