Vote Wisely, Reject Violence — Ndukuba Tells Nigerians

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has urged politicians to stop using youths to perpetrate violence as campaigns for the 2027 general elections gather momentum across the country.

Speaking at the Conference of Anglican Chancellors, Registrars and Legal Officers in Abuja, Most Reverend Ndukuba called on political actors to focus on presenting their manifestoes, enabling Nigerians to make informed choices at the polls rather than inciting violence.
He noted that Nigerian youths possess the numerical strength to influence the nation’s political future by electing credible leaders in the forthcoming elections. He, however, lamented the growing trend of vote-buying and the increasing abuse of hard and illicit drugs among young people.
The Anglican Primate appealed to all eligible voters to participate actively in the 2027 general elections, stressing that the polls present another opportunity for Nigerians to elect leaders who will protect the interests of ordinary citizens.
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial and ensure that every legitimate vote counts. He further urged security agencies to conduct themselves professionally and provide a level playing field for all political parties to carry out their lawful activities.
Most Reverend Ndukuba assured that the Church would continue to speak for the downtrodden and mobilise citizens towards the promotion of justice and good governance.
Speaking on the conference theme, “As for Me and My Household, We Will Serve the Lord,” he urged Anglican Chancellors, Registrars and Legal Officers to deploy their professional expertise for the growth and development of the Church.
He reminded them of the importance of their legal counsel, particularly in the ongoing constitutional review, noting that their contributions would strengthen the Church’s position on constitutional provisions that do not favour Christianity in the country.
