Echem unveils ‘Orumba Rebirth Project,’ appoints Nwankwor campaign DG

Labour Party (LP) candidate for Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Prince Chibuike Echem, the Okenwa Ogbunka on Friday launched the “Orumba Rebate Project” and appointed Hon. Ikenna Nwankwor as Director General of his campaign organization, the Okenwa Ogbunka Campaign Organization.
The event, held in Abuja, marked the formal kickoff of the Okenwa Ogbunka Campaign Organization ahead of the next federal elections.
Echem said the rebate project is designed to cut across both Orumba North and Orumba South and deliver proper representation and accountability.
“We are hoping that our people will find our candidacy acceptable and willing to support the realization of it. Our promise is that we will not disappoint them,” he stated.
He announced that the DG’s first task is to constitute a campaign council comprising seasoned and notable people from both local governments.
Echem described Nwankwor as a seasoned politician, a former councilor, former LG secretary, and currently President General of Orumba North and South communities in Abuja.
“That is why he is rightfully suited for this position that we have appointed him today,” Echem said.
The candidate also reflected on his political journey, including his time as Vice President of the National Council of Nigeria Southeast for 8 years and his 2023 House of Assembly contest.
He advised the DG to be open-minded and ensure merit-based appointments. “This is not a position to favor me or anybody. We must carry our people along.”
Echem said he would allow the DG to run the structure without interference, expressing confidence in his competence.
The event was attended by political stakeholders, including Hon. Frank Chike Okoli of the NDC, who declared support for Echem’s candidacy.
With the campaign council formation underway, the Okenwa Ogbunka team says it is focused on grassroots mobilization across the federal constituency.
