BREAKING: Gunshots rock APC rally in Ilesa as scores reportedly sustain injuries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently attending to casualties following a gunshot incident at its rally in Ilesa, Osun State, on Saturday, after armed Amotekun operatives allegedly opened fire at the gathering.
The casualties, including a 12-year-old boy, were reportedly evacuated to an undisclosed hospital in Ilesa for medical attention.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, the party alleged that the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wale Akerele, led some armed Amotekun operatives to the rally venue.
The allegation had not been independently confirmed by the Citypost at the time of the report, although casualties from the scene were reported to be evident.
The APC Campaign Council in Osun State strongly condemned the incident, describing it as an unprovoked and violent attack on its campaign rally in Ilesa West.
According to the council, APC members were on a peaceful campaign procession when Akerele allegedly arrived with armed Amotekun personnel and opened fire on the crowd.
The party said scores of its members sustained injuries while attempting to escape, adding that four people, including 12-year-old Oluwatobi Ilesanmi, were shot.
The victims were reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital in Ilesa for urgent medical treatment.
The APC Campaign Council called on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to immediately arrest and investigate Hon. Wale Akerele and the Amotekun operatives allegedly involved in the incident.
The party also urged well-meaning Nigerians and civil society organisations to condemn what it described as the continued and reckless maiming of innocent citizens by elements of the ruling party in the state.
The APC maintained that its members would remain undeterred and would not be intimidated by what it described as desperate and violent tactics.
