Osun Tension: Adeleke’s Ally Shot Dead in Ile-Ife
Olalekan Ajagungbade, a loyalist of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has been shot dead in the state.
Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir in political circles, was allegedly lured to a motor park in Ile-Ife for a meeting, where he was shot in the head.
The deceased was reportedly struggling to take control of motor parks in the state from the current leader of commercial drivers in Osun, Nurudeen Alowonle.
His death has sparked tension in some parts of the state.
Meanwhile, Governor Adeleke has directed the police in the state to track and arrest everyone involved in the killing.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke ordered the immediate vacation of the motor parks by warring groups and directed the establishment of a Park Management System with immediate effect.
The governor also called for calm among citizens and directed security agencies to restore normalcy across the motor parks while ensuring the maintenance of law and order throughout the state.
Adeleke further promised to issue an Executive Order for the establishment of a Park Management System to restore discipline and orderliness.
The statement quoted Governor Adeleke as saying, “Law and order must be maintained.
There will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book. We call on members of the public to remain calm.”
“We will ensure restoration of peace in all the affected parks and areas. The security agencies are under instruction to ensure the sustainability of peace at all cost.
“We are reintroducing the Park Management System. I will soon issue an executive order to give effect to the new management system to manage parks and garages across the state.”
