The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has described the inclusion of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party in the presidential campaign council as a sign of defeat for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s general elections.

For the first time, according to the party, a ruling party is including a leader of an opposition party, the Accord Party, in its campaign council.

The APM said this clearly indicates that the ruling party, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is already jittery ahead of the next elections.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, the party described the development as a mockery of the APC’s activities, noting that the ruling party was recently defeated by the Accord Party in the Osun governorship election but has now included the re-elected governor in its campaign council.

Adeleke, who stood his ground and contested against the APC, defeated his rival in a landslide victory.

The APM said his stance differed from that of Governors Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State and Alex Otti of Abia State, whom it accused of playing the roles of underdogs.

With the emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde as the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), the party said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu now holds opposition parties in high esteem because of his fear of defeat.
