The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has continued to receive recognition from media organisations and industry stakeholders for its “exemplary work” in promoting fair competition and championing consumers’ rights in 2026.

The recognitions came from Daily Independent Newspaper, NaijaTimes, Aisha Ibrahim Babangida Foundation and BrandXchange.

Presenting the “Institutional Integrity & Public Service Award” to Mr Tunji Bello, FCCPC Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, at a brief ceremony in Abuja, NaijaTimes Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Mr Ehi Braimah, said the honour recognised the Commission’s role “in advancing consumer welfare, promoting competitive markets and encouraging responsible business conduct across Nigeria’s economic landscape.”
NaijaTimes is published by NaijaTimes Journalism Foundation.

Braimah was accompanied to the ceremony by Mr James Akpadem, the Editorial Board Chairman of NaijaTimes, and Mr Toby Prince, the editor.

Responding, Mr Bello thanked NaijaTimes for the honour, assuring that it would serve as an incentive for the Commission to rededicate itself to its vision and mission.

“We are encouraged that our work is attracting attention and recognition from different quarters. For us, what counts more is the difference we make in the lives of consumers and in the integrity of the marketplace.

These recognitions challenge us to do more, strengthen our resolve and remain focused on building markets where businesses can compete fairly and consumers are treated justly,” Bello said.

Also announced on the same day was the nomination of the FCCPC for the “Regulator of the Year 2026” award by Daily Independent Newspaper.

The newspaper commended the Commission for its “doggedness” in pursuing its mandate.

Earlier in the week, the Women Enterprise Alliance, under the auspices of the Aisha Babangida Foundation, shortlisted the FCCPC for the “Regulatory Body of the Year Award.”

In its citation, the organisation stated that the honour was intended to celebrate “not only the Commission’s regulatory mandate, but also the broader impact of effective regulation in strengthening enterprise confidence, market participation and sustainable economic development.”

In its own announcement, BrandXchange said the award of “Citizen-centric MDA of the Year (Federal)” in 2026 to the FCCPC was in “recognition of your exemplary service, outstanding achievements, and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
