Edo APC ends grassroots tour with second term endorsement for Okpebholo
The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has ended its grassroots mobilisation tour with a second term endorsement for Governor Monday Okpebholo.
State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, announced the endorsement on Friday at the grand finale of the campaign in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.
Tenebe said the State Working Committee toured Edo South, Edo North and Edo Central senatorial districts to assess ongoing projects and development across the state.
He said the findings reinforced the party’s confidence in the administration’s direction.
“Considering the development going on and the massive support the governor enjoys, I do not think we can afford to wait before taking this decision,” he said, before calling on members of the committee present to endorse the governor.
Vice Chairman of the party, Sylvester Aigboboh, said projects in road infrastructure, teacher recruitment and healthcare facilities were evidence of progress within the governor’s first year and 11 months in office.

Responding, Okpebholo thanked Tenebe and members of the State Working Committee for their confidence and support.
He urged party members to sustain their commitment to the administration and the APC’s political objectives, and called on them to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tenebe reaffirmed the party’s commitment to mobilising support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that Edo would contribute significantly to the APC’s target of 2.5 million votes for the President.
The governor also spoke on the ongoing industrial action by staff of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), alleging that the disruption in power supply was politically motivated.
“I am surprised. When they started hearing about our popularity, they said they will cut off electricity supply to Edo,” Okpebholo said.
He said he would raise the matter with relevant authorities in Abuja, stressing that residents’ welfare should not be compromised by political differences.
“You cannot play politics with people’s lives,” he said.
The endorsement in Irrua capped the APC’s grassroots push to consolidate support for Tinubu nationally while declaring confidence in Okpebholo’s development agenda in the state.
