The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, Hon. Emmanuel Ombugadu, has challenged the youths of the state, particularly those in the Western Zone, to take their destiny into their hands by safeguarding the state’s God-given resources.

He also promised to teach Nasarawa youths how to take local ownership of solid minerals such as gold, lithium and wolframite, assuring that if elected governor in 2027, proper surveys and exploration would generate widespread employment opportunities and end the paradox of local communities remaining impoverished despite the state’s vast mineral wealth.

The PDP governorship candidate, who spoke at a campaign rally in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state, said his visionary perspective, if given the mandate, would place youths, women and other vulnerable people in strategic positions to reclaim the lost glory of the state from the hands of what he described as “shylock leaders.”

“The destiny of the state lies in your hands. Nasarawa deserves better living. The state is richly blessed with abundant mineral resources. Under my watch as governor, poverty and unwarranted hardship will end,” Ombugadu declared.

According to him, “The deceit which has characterised these localised mining sites, denial of ownership and unfulfilled promises as a political gimmick will become a thing of the past. How long will our people remain in abject poverty, with the near absence of road networks, while the mineral resources are being carted away?”

Ombugadu, who urged the people of Nasarawa West to reject further deceit, strongly warned against denying the people their right to benefit from the available mineral resources.

“The geographical region of Nasarawa West, comprising Kokona, Karu, Keffi, Nasarawa and Toto, is heavily endowed with valuable deposits. However, the management of these resources is highly deceitful.

“Nasarawa West holds significant commercial deposits of high-grade lithium, with the largest processing plant in Nasarawa LGA, gemstones in Keffi and Kokona, and massive marble deposits in Toto. Yet, these areas have continued to suffer neglect, with no road networks to benefit the host communities.

“We are in Nasarawa to let you know that enough is enough, and this can only be realised when you give us your votes in 2027. Your voter’s card is your weapon. Go out and obtain your voter’s card to vote out bad governance, hunger, hardship and the denial of your legitimate right to ownership of the available mineral resources in your localities,” the PDP governorship candidate insisted.

He further promised that a PDP administration under his watch, if elected in 2027, would build world-class hospitals and healthcare centres across the nooks and crannies of Nasarawa State.

“The PDP administration under my watch, if elected in 2027, will build world-class hospitals and healthcare centres across the nooks and crannies of Nasarawa State because our state is blessed and rich in natural resources.

Why should our people be allowed to suffer when we have everything to make lives better?” he asked.

The campaign rally was also held in Keffi, where the electorate were unanimous in their resolve to vote out bad governance, insecurity, hardship and hunger.

Earlier, Hon. Ombugadu and his campaign team had paid courtesy visits to the traditional rulers of Nasarawa and Keffi to seek their royal blessings ahead of the 2027 general elections.
