Ex-Minister Olu Agunloye Remanded in Kuje Prison over Fraud Charges

The former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, has faced a legal twist as the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The decision was made in response to charges leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing Agunloye of involvement in fraudulent activities during his tenure.
Presiding over the case, Justice Donatus Okorowo oversaw Agunloye’s plea of not guilty to the charges presented against him. However, despite his plea, the court deemed it necessary to remand him pending the determination of his bail application.
This development came to light after the EFCC’s issuance of a declaration on December 13, 2023, categorizing Agunloye as wanted due to suspected fraudulent engagements.
The anti-graft agency had urged the public to step forward with any information about Agunloye’s whereabouts, soliciting individuals to report to law enforcement agencies or directly contact the EFCC.
Mr. Olu Agunloye, a former Minister of Power also held the position of Minister of State for Defence.
