Abba Kyari: Borno youths appeal to Tinubu for unconditional release.
The Borno State Youths Forum (BSYF) has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to unconditionally release DCP Abba Kyari.
In an open letter to the President, the forum said it was appealing to the Federal Government to recognise what it described as the outstanding and unprecedented service achievements recorded by DCP Abba Kyari while serving as the commander of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and during his service in Lagos State.
The forum said that in Borno State, Kyari and his team ended Boko Haram terrorist suicide bombings by arresting commanders allegedly involved in over 130 suicide bombings in the state and destroying their bomb-making factories.
It further claimed that Kyari was the only officer who arrested members of Boko Haram allegedly involved in the 2014 Chibok School Girls kidnapping.
According to the forum, Kyari also arrested the terrorist group responsible for the last terrorist bombings in Nyanya and Kuje, Abuja, in 2015, which resulted in several deaths. It added that he discovered and destroyed two of the group’s bomb-making factories in Gaulaka, Niger State, after which, according to the forum, no terrorist bombing was recorded in Abuja.
The group also recalled Kyari’s arrests of several notorious criminal kingpins across the country, including Evans, Godogodo, Vampire, Ade Lawyer, Umar Abdulmalik, Halti, Zakari Yau, Ability, Dabo and Dogo Russia, among others.

The forum said the government should also recognise the sacrifices Kyari made and the risks he took in maintaining peace, security and the protection of lives and property across the country.
According to the group, DCP Abba Kyari received hundreds of awards within and outside Nigeria for his efforts in promoting security through intelligence-led policing, human intelligence, technology, technical intelligence and other strategies.
The forum listed some of the awards received by Kyari as the Unprecedented Triple IGP Medals for Courage in 2012, 2013 and 2014; a Commendation Award from the American FBI in 2019 for various security operations; and the Presidential Medal for Courage presented by former President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2016.
It also cited an Award for Outstanding Service to the Nation from the National Assembly in June 2020, among other recognitions.
The Borno State Youths Forum maintained that Kyari’s contributions to Nigeria and Nigerians were uncountable, arguing that his achievements and service to the nation outweighed what it described as allegations against him.
The forum described the allegations as false and claimed that they amounted to a malicious setup, personal vendetta and a calculated attempt to tarnish his image and integrity.
It therefore appealed to President Tinubu to release DCP Abba Kyari unconditionally and call him back to his official duties in the interest of peace, justice and national security.
The statement was signed by the Borno State Youths Forum.
