Abuja: FCCPC Seals Another 2 Buildings Belonging To Private Developers, Restates Commitment To Consumer’s Protection

In continuation of its efforts to safeguarding the interest of consumers in the nation’s reel estate sector, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC this Thursday sealed another two buildings belonging to private Estate Developers in Life Camp Extension and Wuse II in the Federal Capital Territory for refusing to handover property to consumers after payment.

Leading FCCPC Enforcement Team to seal the affected buildings in Abuja, the Deputy Director, Surveillance and Investigations in the Commission, Mr Marvin Nadah said the action was carried out in line with the FCCP Act 2018

According to Mr Marvin Nadah, FCCPC served the affected Estate Developer since June last year but refused to comply hence the need to seal up the estates.

“The complains when received have gone through our redress process leading to where the Commission has issued its notice in which we directed the affected Estate Developers to handover the properties that consumers have paid for, for over three years and failure to comply with that notice that we’ve given in line with section 150 of FCCP Act of 2018 and that is why we’re here to carryout this enforcement of sealing the buildings ” He stressed

In his words “We served them the notice since June 2025 and they have seven days to comply which they failed and remember that this is complete payment that has been done by these consumers and we’re convinced about the action that we’ve taken in accordance with the Act establishing FCCPC”.

The FCCPC Deputy Director, Surveillance and Investigations stated that the Commission would continue to checkmate the activities of Estate Developers in the country to avoid shortchanging consumers.

While explaining that FCCPC has received complains about some Estate Developers, Mr Marvin Nadah advised Nigerian consumers to always contact the Commission on issues of default in the real estate sector for necessary redress.

“The Commission is there to receive complains of any illegal act by any company because the Government cannot sit down and watch consumers being exploited or information mis presented to them or misled in any manner or form that is against their interest and consumers should also be mindful and be careful and at alert to verify promises that are made by Estate Developers to avoid being exploited” Mr Marvin Nadah emphasized

Mr Marvin Nadah who reiterated the commitment of FCCPC towards protecting Nigerian consumers solicited the continuous support of stakeholders towards realizing the mandate of the Commission.
