ACOMIN rallies stakeholders to break barriers to HIV, TB and malaria services in Nigeria.

In a bid to address barriers to HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria services in Nigeria, the Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has called for urgent joint action among stakeholders.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Minna, the State Coordinator of ACOMIN, Mr. Kalejaiye Olasukanmi, represented by Mrs. Hassana Kpetu, said tackling the health challenges requires the support and collaboration of all key stakeholders.
He identified improved referral systems, consistent availability of medicines and testing services, training of more health workers, and increased community screening as critical measures needed to strengthen healthcare delivery.
Mr. Olasukanmi also emphasized the need to reduce healthcare costs to enable more people access treatment and other essential health services.
According to him, these interventions will help close gaps in care, improve health outcomes, and reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria across the state and the country.
The Niger State Malaria Elimination Programme Manager, Mrs. Amina Edward, also urged health workers and officers of Community-Based Organisations to maintain patient confidentiality in the discharge of their duties.
