National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the governorship election.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Dickson urged other candidates in the election to accept the outcome and work with Adeleke for the peace and development of the state.

Dickson described the victory as significant to both Osun State and Nigeria’s democracy, saying the result demonstrated that citizens could still exercise their democratic choice through the ballot despite challenges facing the country’s political system.
He commended the people of Osun State for defending their democratic choice and called on all contestants to put the election behind them and support the governor, saying such cooperation would promote peace, unity and development in the state.
According to the statement, Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
The statement added that Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11.
