The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to fully utilise its modern facilities to enhance the nation’s security network and support economic growth.
Speaking in Abuja during the inauguration of 75 newly procured electric motorcycles, Senator Akume noted that road safety and national security are closely linked, stressing the need for the FRSC to secure highways to promote socio-economic activities across the country.

The SGF emphasized that the Corps must align its operations with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises citizen security, public confidence and sustainable solutions.
He charged the FRSC to ensure that the deployment of the electric motorcycles reflects the Federal Government’s strong commitment to safeguarding lives, property and critical infrastructure nationwide.
According to him, the motorcycles should be strategically deployed to ease traffic congestion and provide timely intelligence to security agencies for swift responses to criminal activities across the country.
“The bikes are fully equipped with sirens, high-visibility amber lights, microphones and loudspeakers for public announcements, as well as live audiovisual recording systems to ensure transparent enforcement,” he said.
Senator Akume expressed confidence that the motorcycles would be deployed judiciously, strategically and responsibly to effectively support national security efforts.
In his remarks, the Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, commended the Federal Government for its consistent support in strengthening the operational capacity of the Corps.
He noted that the provision of the electric motorcycles was timely, coming at a period of increased vehicular movement associated with the Christmas and New Year festivities.
Mallam Shehu Mohammed assured that the motorcycles would be deployed to critical corridors prone to traffic gridlock across the country, adding that the FRSC remains committed to effective traffic management beyond the Yuletide period.
