Allegations Against Me, Family Politically Motivated — Senator Jarigbe Insists relatives are Nigerians entitled to bid for projects, urges focus on project delivery
By David Odama
The Senator representing Cross River North, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has dismissed allegations that he fronts family members for public procurements, describing the claims as the handiwork of political mischief makers.
Responding to reports alleging that a company linked to a family member executed projects on his behalf, the senator said attention should be placed on project delivery rather than unfounded insinuations, stressing that he is not a director of the company in question.
Senator Jarigbe questioned why the publication focused on a project that has been executed instead of interrogating other projects contained in the 2023 budget for Obudu, Bekwarra and Obanliku Federal Constituency, where little or nothing has reportedly been implemented.
According to the ranking senator, his siblings are Nigerians who possess the constitutional right to bid for and win contracts. He noted that the real concern should be whether such projects are properly and fully executed.
He faulted the publication for failing to observe the basic principles of journalism, particularly balance and fair hearing, adding that the individual behind the narrative was merely seeking to shift blame for personal shortcomings.
“The individual behind this spurious allegation is clearly on a mission of self-destruction. I urge journalists to uphold the core values of their profession by ensuring balance, hearing the other side, and resisting politically motivated falsehoods,” the senator said.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people of Cross River North, Senator Jarigbe stated that his priority remains the delivery of dividends of democracy across the senatorial district, with a consistent focus on improving the welfare and standard of living of his constituents.
In 2025, he flagged off a rural water project benefiting 22 communities across the five local government areas of Cross River North Senatorial District.
He also noted that projects facilitated by him—including the supply of 130 motorcycles to Obudu Local Government Area; provision of 41 all-in-one desktop computers complete with tables, chairs, printers and UPS units; emergency rice distribution across the senatorial district; and the construction of solar street lights in Nkum Ekajuk and other communities—have all been fully executed.
