Two-time former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, was on Monday involved in a road accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash occurred around 11:00 a.m. near Danco Filling Station in Makun, before the Sagamu Interchange, according to eyewitnesses.

Joshua, who was travelling in a Lexus SUV (Plate Number: KRD 850 HN) as part of a two-vehicle convoy, reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances yet to be officially determined. His security personnel followed in a supporting vehicle.

Eyewitness Adeniyi Orojo, who joined the rescue effort, confirmed that two occupants in the Lexus SUV died on the spot, including the passenger beside the driver and another individual identified as Joshua’s co-passenger.

“Joshua was seated behind the driver, with someone beside him. There were four occupants in total. We immediately began rescue operations and flagged down other vehicles for help. FRSC officers arrived a few minutes later,” Orojo stated.

He added that Joshua sustained minor injuries and was assisted out of the vehicle before being taken for medical attention.

Efforts to reach the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Commander, Akinbiyi Babatunde, for an official statement were unsuccessful as calls did not connect.
