APC Reps Primaries: Stakeholders Urge Tinubu, Nentawe, to Intervene As Asiwaju Youth Group Insists No Elections Held in Parts of Ekiti North Fed. Constituency II

As reactions continue to trail the direct primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) across the country, some party stakeholders in Ekiti State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the party to urgently step in and address developments in the state.

At the same time, the Ekiti Network of Asiwaju Youths (ENAYo), regarded as one of the strongest support groups for the President in the state, alleged widespread irregularities during the conduct of the primaries, particularly in Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, where it claimed elections did not take place in some wards despite results being announced.

Ekiti North Federal Constituency II, one of the six federal constituencies in Ekiti State, comprises Ido-Osi, Ilejemeje, and Moba local government areas. The constituency is currently represented in the House of Representatives by Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole.
In an open letter addressed to President Tinubu on Wednesday, the Concerned Ekiti APC Stakeholders criticised the actions of some political actors in the state, describing them as “undemocratic and unprogressive.”
The letter, signed by the group’s Coordinator, Alhaji AbdulRaman Agboola, and Secretary, Hon. Daniel Fatoriji, condemned what it described as the writing and declaration of election results in areas where no voting allegedly took place. According to the stakeholders, such actions threaten the peace, unity, and stability of the party in the state.
The group stated that its members were among the founding pillars of the APC in Ekiti State and warned that unresolved grievances could negatively affect the party ahead of future general elections.
They called on President Tinubu and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, to urgently intervene before the situation escalates further.
Citing Ekiti North Federal Constituency II as an example, the stakeholders claimed that Hon. Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole, whom they said many party members supported for another term due to his contributions and performance, was allegedly targeted by political opponents.
They also alleged that Kolawole’s media aide, who travelled home for the primaries, was arrested by the police a day before the election and accused of staying in the same hotel with suspected hoodlums allegedly arrested with firearms.
According to the stakeholders, the aide remains in police custody despite claims that the arrested suspects denied knowing him. They alleged that the arrest was politically motivated.
The group further claimed that elections did not take place in several wards considered strongholds of Hon. Kolawole, including Usi Ward 5 in Ido-Osi LGA, Ifaki Wards 1 and 2, Ilogbo Ward, Otun Wards 1 and 2, Igogo Ward 1, as well as wards in Ilejemeje Local Government Area.
They alleged that in places where voting genuinely occurred and results favoured Kolawole, different results were later announced at the state collation centre in Ado Ekiti.
The stakeholders insisted that such actions contradict the original ideals of the APC and warned that failure to address the issues could hurt the party during future elections.
Similarly, in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Joseph Olaitan, the Ekiti Network of Asiwaju Youths (ENAYo) urged the APC national leadership to reject any result originating from Ekiti North Federal Constituency II.
The group claimed that party members, youths, elders, and supporters turned out in large numbers to participate in the primaries but were prevented from voting in some wards after election materials were allegedly hijacked.
ENAYo also alleged that in areas where elections were properly conducted and results announced, the figures later presented at the state collation centre differed from the original outcomes.
The group said it possessed video evidence and result sheets which, according to them, showed that Hon. Akin Kolawole won overwhelmingly in areas where voting and collation genuinely took place.
However, the group expressed surprise that the name of Alhaji Ibrahim Olanrewaju later emerged in the announced results, including from wards where they claimed no voting occurred.
The youth group further criticised the continued detention of Ibitola Babatope, also known as Sugarito, who works as a media aide to Hon. Kolawole, alleging that his arrest was politically orchestrated.
While maintaining that Ekiti people are peaceful and non-violent, the group warned against attempts to introduce political violence into the state’s political environment.
ENAYo reiterated its readiness to support President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections but stressed that it would not support any attempt to impose candidates against the wishes of party members and the electorate.
The statement urged the APC leadership to act swiftly before the situation deteriorates further.
