Baba Dantiye Celebrates Husseina Bangshika on Conferment of FNGE

Former Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs and former President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Baba Halilu Dantiye, has congratulated veteran journalist and former Deputy President of the Guild, Hussaina Akila Bangshika, on her conferment as a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (FNGE).

Dantiye, who served as President of the NGE from 2003 to 2008, described the honour as a well deserved recognition of Bangshika’s distinguished career in journalism and her contributions to the journalism profession.

In a congratulatory message to Bangshika, Dantiye said her service to the Guild as Deputy President and her contributions to the profession had demonstrated a sustained commitment to journalism and public service.

“I warmly congratulate you on the conferment of the distinguished Fellowship of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (FNGE),” Dantiye said.

He described the fellowship as “a fitting recognition” of Bangshika’s distinguished career in journalism, her service to the Guild and her valuable contributions to the profession.

Dantiye also commended her long years of dedicated service to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), which culminated in her retirement as Director of News.

“Your long and dedicated service to the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, culminating in your retirement as Director of News, is a further testament to a career marked by commitment and distinction,” he said.

He urged the new FNGE Fellow to continue contributing to the development of journalism and society, wishing her good health, fulfilment and many more years of impactful service.

“As you join the distinguished ranks of Fellows of the Guild, I wish you continued good health, fulfilment and many more years of meaningful contributions to journalism and society,” Dantiye added.

Bangshika’s conferment as FNGE adds to a distinguished career spanning journalism, editorial leadership, media management and professional development.

Beyond her career in journalism, she has continued to contribute to society through leadership and advocacy roles. She is Editor-in-Chief of City Post.ng and serves as Brand Ambassador of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).

She is also a Board Member of ACIDEV and the Edoka Trauma Training Centre (ETTC), as well as Lead Fellow and Patron of the Boys’ Brigade.

Her recognition by the Nigerian Guild of Editors therefore represents an addition to a career defined by professional service, editorial leadership, mentorship and advocacy.

Dantiye, a former senior public official and respected figure in Nigeria’s journalism community, congratulated Bangshika once again on the honour and described it as “well deserved.”
