Bamidele Moves Motion as Senate Approves Fresh Amendments to Pension Bill
The Senate has reversed an earlier decision on Sections 7 and 8 of the National Assembly Service Pension Board (Establishment) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026, following consideration of a motion on the matter.
The Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, in the motion, recalled that the bill had been duly considered, passed and forwarded to the Legal Services Directorate for scrutiny.
He, however, noted that some fundamental issues requiring fresh legislative action by both chambers of the National Assembly were identified in Sections 7 and 8 of the bill following a critical analysis by the directorate.
Relying on its Standing Orders 1(b) and 52(6), the Senate passed the amendments as moved.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau, who presided over the session, read out the decision of the red chamber
