Bauchi Professionals Back Tuggar for Governor, Cite Integrity, Global Experience
A group under the aegis of the League of Bauchi Professionals has endorsed Yusuf Maitama Tuggar for the Bauchi State governorship, describing him as a candidate with the integrity, experience, and vision required to drive development in the state.
The endorsement was contained in a statement issued by the group’s secretary, Ibrahim Yusuf, following Tuggar’s recent declaration and homecoming event in Bauchi.
According to the group, Tuggar represents the kind of leadership needed to inspire progress, stressing that Bauchi requires governance rooted in empathy, inclusivity, and clear direction.
“Bauchi needs leadership that motivates through action and example—leadership grounded in empathy, inclusivity, and a clear vision,” the statement said, adding that the former diplomat has the capacity to help the people “shape their collective destiny.”
Call for Support, Electoral Victory
The League commended the turnout and success of Tuggar’s declaration event but urged supporters to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the polls.
It maintained that the state requires leadership anchored on service, accountability, and measurable progress, noting that Tuggar’s track record in public service demonstrates commitment to the welfare and prosperity of citizens.
Push for Fiscal Discipline, Security
The group also highlighted the need for prudent financial management in Bauchi State, calling for reforms that would sanitise public finances, eliminate waste, and enforce fiscal discipline.
“Bauchi’s resources must work for the many, not the few,” the statement noted, expressing confidence in Tuggar’s ability to attract investment and deliver sustainable economic growth.
On security, the League stressed the importance of ensuring safety across the state, particularly for farmers, traders, and schoolchildren.
“Farmers must access their farmlands without fear, traders must move freely, and every child must feel safe going to school,” it stated.
Emphasis on Transparency, Inclusion
The professionals’ group further called for transparent governance and inclusive development, insisting that all communities across the state’s 20 local government areas must be actively involved in decision-making processes.
It warned that failure to ensure inclusivity in resource allocation would amount to repeating past governance shortcomings.
‘Qualified to Lead’
Describing Tuggar as a seasoned statesman and a native of Gamawa, the group said his experience on the global stage, including his role in national service, positions him as a strong contender for the governorship.
It also pointed to the need for equitable leadership opportunities across different zones in the state since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999.
The League concluded by reiterating its confidence in Tuggar’s candidacy, stating that Bauchi needs focused, principled, and forward-looking leadership capable of addressing its challenges and delivering sustainable development.
