Benue Rolls Out the Red Carpet as First Lady Arrives for Renewed Hope Programme

Benue State is set to receive the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in a visit expected to have significant impact on the people of the state, particularly women.


A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, explained that the visit is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, a nationwide programme focused on empowering women, strengthening families, and improving the welfare of vulnerable groups across the country.
During her stay in Benue, the First Lady will interact with women and beneficiaries of the initiative as part of efforts to further expand its impact at the grassroots level.
Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed delight over the planned visit and looks forward to welcoming the nation’s First Lady.
He described the visit as another positive development in the collaborative efforts between the Federal and State Governments to improve the lives of citizens, especially women and families.
A key highlight of Senator Tinubu’s visit will be the commissioning of 10 newly completed roads in Makurdi, out of the more than 45 roads delivered by the Alia administration.
The 10 roads, covering a total distance of 11.5 kilometres, represent a major investment in urban renewal and infrastructure development aimed at improving mobility, stimulating economic activities, and enhancing the quality of life of residents.
The roads scheduled for commissioning are Ishaya Bakut Road (Dual Carriageway), Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 1), Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 2), Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 3), Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Mbateren Alia Street (Former Keke Napep Road), Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Iorpuu Street, Tyagher Gbaa Street, and Jato-Aka Road.
After the commissioning ceremony in Makurdi, the First Lady will proceed to Ihugh, where she will perform the commissioning and handover of the Community ICT Centre.
Speaking ahead of the visit, the Benue State Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, stated that all arrangements have been concluded to ensure a successful outing.
According to her, women across Benue State are enthusiastic and eagerly anticipating the arrival of Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Mrs. Bensor therefore called on women, community leaders, support groups, and members of the public to come out in large numbers to welcome the First Lady and showcase the warmth, hospitality, and unity for which the people of Benue are renowned.
