BYFYBC Marks 60 Years of Faith, Service and Youth Development with Week-Long Celebration
The Baptist Youth Fellowship, Yaba Baptist Church (BYFYBC), has announced plans for its 2026 Youth Week and 60th Anniversary Celebration, a week-long programme aimed at promoting spiritual growth, youth empowerment, community service, and thanksgiving to commemorate six decades of impact and service.
The celebration, scheduled to hold from June 7 to June 14, 2026, will bring together church members, youth leaders, community stakeholders, and invited guests for a series of activities designed to inspire young people while reflecting on the fellowship’s legacy of faith, leadership, and social responsibility.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Youth President, Bro. Olusegun Kehinde, described the anniversary as “a significant milestone that provides an opportunity to celebrate God’s faithfulness while recommitting the fellowship to its mission of raising young people who will positively influence society through Christian values and service.”
As part of activities marking the anniversary, members of the Baptist Youth Fellowship, Yaba Baptist Church, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, visited Modupe Cole Memorial Child Care and Treatment Home, Akoka, Lagos, where they spent time with residents, donated support materials, and shared words of encouragement.
The outreach formed part of the fellowship’s commitment to extending compassion and practical support to vulnerable members of society.
The fellowship also announced plans for a prison outreach programme during the anniversary week, where members will visit correctional facilities to offer spiritual encouragement, fellowship, and support to inmates. Organisers say the initiative reflects the fellowship’s belief in hope, restoration, and service beyond the walls of the Church.
“The celebration is not only about looking back on sixty years of achievements but also about demonstrating Christ’s love through service to humanity,” Olusegun said. “Our outreach initiatives to the elderly, children, and inmates are central to the values we seek to uphold as a fellowship.”
The week-long programme will commence on Sunday, June 7, with worship services at Yaba Baptist Church. Other activities include a marriage seminar on June 8, a worship and prayer session on June 10, and a sports day at Baptist Academy, Obanikoro, on June 12.
The highlight of the celebration will be the 60th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, June 13, at Harmony Hall, Yaba Baptist Church.
The event will feature reflections on the fellowship’s history, recognition of distinguished members and alumni, musical performances, and presentations celebrating the fellowship’s contribution to youth development over the past six decades.
The anniversary celebrations will conclude with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, June 14.
Organisers say the event is expected to attract participants from within and outside Nigeria, including former members, church leaders, youth organisations, and community partners.
The Baptist Youth Fellowship has called on media organisations, stakeholders, and members of the public to join in commemorating the milestone and amplifying the message of faith, service, leadership, and community transformation that has defined the fellowship’s journey for the past sixty years.
