COSEYL Hails Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the Most Respected Political Leader in the South East …Says his influence drives defections of opposition governors, lawmakers, and key political figures to APC in the region

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the apex sociopolitical youth organization in the South East, has formally commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, for his outstanding leadership, political influence, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of democracy and the welfare of his people.

In a statement signed by its President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, COSEYL described Senator Kalu as a steadfast advocate for Ndigbo and democracy, noting his remarkable dedication and personal sacrifices in pursuit of justice, equity, and national progress.

According to the statement, Senator Kalu has demonstrated exceptional resilience in the face of challenges, including the loss of business interests—such as the revocation of his airline license by former President Olusegun Obasanjo—because of his principled political stance. Despite such setbacks, he has remained resolute in his mission to uplift the South East and promote democratic ideals across Nigeria.

COSEYL emphasized that Kalu’s sacrifices for democracy reflect true statesmanship and deep concern for the welfare of his people, noting that “he who does not know where a corpse is buried will try to exhume it from the leg side.” The group added that Senator Kalu’s understanding of the region’s challenges and his proactive efforts to address them have cemented his place as a hero among the Ndigbo and beyond.

The group also lauded Senator Kalu’s pivotal role in recent political realignments across the South East, crediting his influence and political wisdom for the wave of defections by governors, lawmakers, and other prominent figures from opposition parties to the All Progressives Congress (APC). COSEYL said this has fostered greater political unity and stronger representation of the region at the national level.
