The Igala Cultural and Development Association (ICDA) has congratulated His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, CFR, the Ata Igala and President of the Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers, following the court judgment affirming his rightful ascension to the Ata Igala throne.

In a statement signed by its President, Cmdre. Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi (Rtd.), the association described the judgment as a landmark victory that brings to an end nearly four years of legal disputes over the revered throne.
According to the ICDA, the ruling represents not only a personal triumph for the monarch but also a victory for truth, justice, and the rule of law. It noted that the judgment has finally resolved the long-standing litigation, paving the way for renewed peace, unity, and development across the Igala Kingdom.
The association commended the judiciary for carrying out its constitutional duty with courage and impartiality, saying the decision strengthens public confidence in Nigeria’s judicial system and reaffirms that justice ultimately prevails.
ICDA appealed to all parties involved in the legal battle, their supporters, and the entire Igala people to accept the judgment in good faith. It urged everyone to put aside past differences, embrace reconciliation, and work together for the progress of the kingdom, warning that further disputes could undermine the collective desire for peace, stability, and development.
The association also stressed that the Ata Igala institution remains a lasting symbol of the history, identity, and cultural heritage of the Igala people, deserving the loyalty and support of all sons and daughters of the kingdom regardless of previous disagreements.
Offering prayers for the monarch, ICDA asked Almighty God to grant His Royal Majesty long life, sound health, wisdom, and strength to continue providing peaceful, purposeful, and visionary leadership. It expressed hope that his reign would usher in greater unity, prosperity, security, and sustained development throughout the Igala Kingdom.
The association once again congratulated His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Matthew Opaluwa Oguche Akpa II, CFR, on the judicial victory and wished him many more years of impactful and successful reign on the throne of his forefathers.
The statement concluded with goodwill messages for the Ata Igala, the Igala Kingdom, Kogi State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
