Businessman, entrepreneur and legal practitioner, Sir Godfrey Ohuabunwa, has encouraged Nigerians not to abandon their dreams, assuring them that with faith in God, discipline and perseverance, no aspiration is impossible to achieve.

This was contained in a statement he signed ahead of his Call to the Nigerian Bar in Abuja.

According to the statement, Ohuabunwa described his journey to becoming a lawyer as clear evidence that delays should never be mistaken for denial.
He revealed that after more than four decades of pursuing his childhood ambition to study Law, God finally brought the dream to fulfillment, describing the achievement as one of the greatest testimonies of his life.
“There is no dream that God cannot bring to pass. No matter how long it takes, if you remain faithful, disciplined and committed, God will accomplish His purpose for your life,” he said.
The statement recalled that after completing secondary school in the mid-1980s, Ohuabunwa made several attempts to secure admission to study Law but was unsuccessful despite obtaining qualifying scores.
Rather than give up, he enrolled in various qualifying programmes, including IJMB and remedial studies, before eventually gaining admission to study English Language and Literature at the University of Maiduguri after Law remained out of reach.
“I could have concluded that it was not meant to be, but I refused to bury the dream. I believed that God’s plan was greater than my disappointment, and I continued to prepare myself for the day the opportunity would come,” he stated.
According to the statement, although Ohuabunwa built a successful career as an entrepreneur and attained several academic and professional milestones, his desire to become a lawyer never faded.
The opportunity eventually came during the COVID-19 pandemic when he enrolled to study Law, excelled academically and later proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, where he completed the professional training required to qualify as a legal practitioner.
He attributed the realization of his lifelong ambition not only to determination but, above all, to God’s grace, noting that dedicating his life to Christ in 1995 transformed his perspective and strengthened his resolve to persevere through life’s challenges.
“My life is a testimony that with God, nothing is impossible. There were seasons of disappointment and waiting, but every delay was preparing me for God’s appointed time,” he said.
Ohuabunwa urged young Nigerians and others facing repeated setbacks not to lose hope because of temporary failures or closed doors, stressing that present circumstances do not determine a person’s future.
“Do not allow rejection to define you. Do not allow delay to destroy your faith. Keep believing, keep working, keep praying and keep preparing. When God’s time comes, no force on earth can stop what He has ordained for you,” he added.
He also expressed appreciation to God, his family, mentors and everyone who supported him throughout his journey, describing his Call to the Nigerian Bar as more than a personal achievement but a testimony intended to inspire others to trust God, remain steadfast and never stop pursuing the dreams He has placed in their hearts.
