The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has paid the outstanding entitlements of the former Chairman of Kano Municipal Local Government Area, Fa’izu Alfindiki, which were reportedly withheld by the Kano State Government.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau on Tuesday evening presented a cheque of N7 million to the former local government chairman.

Presenting the cheque to Alfindiki at the National Assembly in Abuja, Senator Barau described constructive criticism as the lifeblood of democracy, stressing that it should not attract victimisation.
“It is unfortunate that he was denied his legitimate entitlements simply because he stood firmly with the APC and the people of our state. This is wrong, unjust, and a clear violation of the fundamental rights to freedom of speech and association.
“Constructive criticism, such as that offered by Fa’izu Alfindiki, is the lubricant of democracy. Without it, democracy cannot thrive,” said Senator Barau, who also serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament.
In his response, Alfindiki expressed deep appreciation to the Deputy President of the Senate, stating that he had no regrets about speaking the truth to the Kano State Government.
“I sincerely thank His Excellency, the Deputy President of the Senate and our incoming Governor, In sha Allah, for this honour and support. This singular gesture once again demonstrates that the APC is a party worth standing with and a platform deserving of our commitment and sacrifice.
“From the moment this incident occurred, I was confident that the APC would stand by me. Today, that confidence has been vindicated. The Deputy President of the Senate stood up for me, and for that, I am profoundly grateful,” he said.
