The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has urged security agencies to step up their operations against bandits troubling communities within the Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas of Kano State.

Responding to the recent attack on Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa LGA on Saturday night, Senator Jibrin called for swift action to rescue those abducted and prevent further incursions.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President condemned the incident. He noted that the attack—which resulted in the death of a woman and the abduction of three others—occurred just days after a similar assault in Biresawa village in the same LGA.

“I received the distressing report of the killing of a woman and the kidnapping of three individuals in Yankamaye village by bandits operating from neighbouring states. This came only a few days after another attack in Biresawa. I therefore urge our security agencies, who have confronted these criminals on several occasions, to intensify their efforts to rescue the victims and decisively confront these elements. They must take the fight to them,” Senator Jibrin said.

He further emphasized that the Senate would not condone the destabilisation of communities by criminals fleeing military operations in nearby states. “These incursions into our communities must end immediately. The safety of our people and their property is a priority, and no effort will be spared to ensure this,” he added.
