Development, People-Oriented Policies Drive My Aspiration — Babagbemi
By Iyojo Ameh
Pastor Babagbemi Joseph Adejola, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the House of Representatives, Yagba Federal Constituency, Kogi State, has said his aspiration is anchored on sustainable development and people-oriented policies aimed at improving the welfare of constituents.
Adejola made this known on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, noting that his decision to seek elective office was borne out of years of community engagement and a clear understanding of the developmental needs of Yagba Federal Constituency.
According to him, effective representation must go beyond lawmaking to include strategic advocacy, facilitation of projects and policies that directly impact the lives of the people.
“My aspiration is driven by the urgent need to refocus governance on development that the people can see, feel and benefit from. Representation must translate to improved infrastructure, access to quality education, healthcare, youth empowerment and economic opportunities,” he said.
The aspirant stressed that Yagba Federal Constituency is endowed with human and natural resources which, if properly harnessed through deliberate policies and effective representation, could stimulate growth and reduce unemployment.
He said his people-oriented agenda would prioritise youth and women empowerment, support for farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs, and sustained engagement with federal agencies to attract developmental projects to the constituency.
Adejola, a cleric and financial expert, said his background in leadership and service had prepared him for the task of inclusive representation, adding that integrity, accountability and accessibility would define his approach if elected.
“I believe leadership is about service. The people deserve a representative who listens, understands their challenges and speaks for them effectively at the national level,” he said.
He also pledged to work in synergy with party leaders, traditional institutions and relevant stakeholders to deepen democratic participation and ensure that dividends of democracy reach all communities across Yagba Federal Constituency.
The APC aspirant called on party members and constituents to support his aspiration, assuring them of purposeful and responsive representation aimed at promoting peace, unity and development.
Adejola reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the APC, describing the party as a platform capable of delivering sustainable development through progressive policies and people-focused governance.
