DRTS Crushes Another 250 Motorcycles in City Center

The Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) in the nation’s capital has again crushed another 250 motorcycles caught operating in unauthorized axis.

During the exercise in Abuja, the Director of the Service , Dr Abdulateef Bello, reiterated the FCTA’ s readiness to sustain the fight against lawlessness and excesses of the adamant riders.

He stressed that the crushing would continue untill the Okada riders comply with the rules and regulations guiding their operations in the territory.

He further explained that the FCTA is not completely against commercial motor cycles but against those violating the rules, pointing out that most of their activities are facilitating criminality and posing threat and dangers to innocent residents. Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, Comrade Ikharo Attah, reiterated FCT Minister's zeal to leave the legacy of a clean and beautiful city behind. "For now people can see clearly that those in Galadimawa, what those in area 1 have seen, those in Durumi have seen and some parts of AYA have seen and those in Kubwa will soon be getting their own, that is why we are crushing them in their presence, it is very clear that the Minister of FCT Malam Muhammad Bello will work till the last day in the office and work will go on until last day in the office . Comrade Attah listed areas Okada riders are not permitted to ply to include the city Center, airport road , Kubwa expressed way among others. " there are other areas you can do the business in the suburbs, but neighbouring districts, Airport road, Kubwa axis, those areas are not allowed. so , take your business somewhere else". Attah warned.

Secretary Command and Control unit, Peter Olumiji disclosed that there had been complaints from Kubwa, Galadimawa, Durumi about the unwholesome activities of some motorcyclists in these areas, hence the Government had resolve to curtail their excesses. "Most of the times some of the motor cycles are used as getaway when a crime is committed. There have been complaints" . He said
