DSS Nabs Suspected Gunrunner, Recovers 832 Rounds of Live Ammunition
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), on Monday at Ivara Esu Estate in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, arrested a suspected gunrunner, Kelvin Ebikeniye Dugo.
Security sources revealed that the arrest followed credible intelligence regarding Dugo’s plan to purchase 832 rounds of live ammunition from one Azenda Barnabas, also known as Jagaban, another suspected gunrunner based in Aliade, Benue State.
“The operatives intercepted Dugo shortly after he received the consignment, which had been concealed in food items. Recovered were 832 rounds of ammunition and two empty AK-47 magazines,” the source stated.
“The DSS has intensified its crackdown on such criminal elements, launching sustained operations across various states of the Federation.
“This successful operation is part of ongoing nationwide efforts, demonstrating the DSS’ strong commitment to dismantling gunrunning networks and curbing the proliferation of illegal arms,” the source added.
