Easter Reflection: Senate President Urges Love, Tolerance Amid National Challenges
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, has called on Nigerians to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
Akpabio made this call in a congratulatory Easter message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh. He encouraged Christians to reflect on the values of love and peaceful coexistence as they mark the sacred celebration of Easter.
“On behalf of my family, my constituents, the Senate, and the National Assembly, I extend my warmest Easter greetings to all Christians in Nigeria and across the world.
“As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, let us reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity which His message represents.
“Let us join hands to build a nation where everyone can live in peace, harmony, and prosperity.”
The Senate President, while acknowledging the challenges currently facing the country, particularly insecurity, urged Nigerians to show understanding and remain committed to national unity and security consciousness.
“I want to assure Nigerians that we will overcome these challenges through collective efforts, understanding, and prayers. The President is working tirelessly, while the Armed Forces and other security agencies continue to put in relentless efforts to curb the situation.
“I sympathise with families affected by the senseless attacks carried out by terrorists and bandits across the country, especially the recent killings in Jos. I pray that Almighty God will show mercy to those who lost their lives and grant comfort to their families.”
He further prayed for divine guidance and protection for the nation.
“May God bless Nigeria, guide us in His wisdom, help us overcome those who seek to harm our people, and lead us towards a brighter future.”
