The Senator representing Kogi East, Isah Jibrin, popularly known as Echocho, has denied claims that he held a private meeting with Chief Joseph Ameh Erico, accusing those circulating the reports of misrepresenting a photograph to create a misleading political narrative.

The senator’s media office said on Monday that the photograph circulating on social media showed Echocho at a public political gathering alongside another individual.

It maintained that the image did not establish that he had a private meeting or political engagement with Erico.

In a statement, the office described the claims as false and misleading, warning against the use of images and digital platforms to spread unverified political narratives.

It also expressed concern over the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to create fabricated content, distort facts and mislead members of the public.

The controversy comes amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, when photographs and social media posts can fuel speculation about political alliances and realignments.

However, the senator’s office maintained that the photograph did not prove any political agreement or private interaction between Echocho and Erico.

It reaffirmed the senator’s membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing him as a loyal member of the ruling party.

According to the statement, Echocho remains focused on his legislative responsibilities, political engagements and representation of Kogi East Senatorial District.
