Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 21st September governorship election in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has indicted the incumbent governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki for failing to provide the needed infrastructural uplift in the last eight years of his administration.

In an interview monitored on Arise television, Ighodalo listed the many failures of the Obaseki administration, to include lack of healthcare, good schools, bad business environment, poverty and lack, as well as lack of portable water for the people.

Ighodalo, who served as Obaseki’s aide for several years and also headed his economic team, in the interview, bemoaned the level of chaos in the state, created by the outgoing governor.

In a firing shot, Ighodalo thundered: “We are telling the voters that we will solve their problems. And that we will be the government that will solve their problems.”

Apparently referring to the administration of Obaseki, Ighodalo indicted the governor, saying that “people are suffering. They can not even eat. People do not have money in their pockets. There is a lot that is not going right at the moment. That is the message we are selling to the people, that we will be the government and the party that will resolve their issues.”

In his further indictment of his friend and ally, Ighodalo claimed that Obaseki has failed Edo people in the last eight years of his administration.

Refuting claims by the administration of Obaseki that it had created an Eldorado, Ighodalo, who has since alienated the governor from his campaign, claimed that “they will be the government that will create more jobs. We will create the enabling environment for businesses. We will help build infrastructure. All those things that affect people’s daily lives and help put food on their table, we will ensure that they get living wages where they work and ensure that they have water and light.

“We will ensure that they have access to good healthcare. We will ensure that their kids can go to great schools. We are concerned about the people.”
