Eid-el-Fitr -;ACHPN President Felicitates With Muslims, Restates Commitment To Professional Excellence

The President of Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, ACHPN, Comrade Kabir Yahaya Ahmed has felicitated with Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

In his Sallah message in Abuja, message, Comrade Kabir Ahmed advised Muslims to continue to imbibe the lessons of the holy month of Ramadan beyond the celebration.

He also emphasized the need for them to use the occasion in praying for Nigeria to overcome its security and economic challenges..

Comrade Kabir Ahmed who expressed concern over the challenges confronting the less privileged in the country called on wealthy muslims to use the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr in putting smiles on the faces of the needy towards giving them a sense of belonging during and after the celebration.

On the forthcoming election of ACHPN, Comrade Kabir Yahaya Ahmed said the Association needed continuous effective leadership in Community Health Practice as well as vision, integrity, and a deep understanding of the health needs of communities across the country hence the need for his members to give him the second term to consolidate on the successes he had recorded on the above during his first tenure.

According to him, he has over the years consistently demonstrated the qualities through his service and commitment to strengthening the professional development and recognition of Community Health Practitioners under the Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria.

“My leadership has so far reflected the core values of:
• Professional excellence
• Community-centered health service
• Unity among practitioners
• Advocacy for stronger Primary Health Care systems
For sustained progress, institutional stability, and continued advancement of community health profession,.

He therefore solicited the support of members of ACHPN for another mandate to serve towards taking the Association to greater heights.

He equally used the opportunity in calling for the overhaul of the nation’s Primary Healthcare System towards enhancing the wellbeing of Nigerians nationwide.

The President of ACHPN equally emphasized the need for more recruitment of community health practitioners this year towards meeting the shortfall in workforce in primary healthcare centres in the country.

While expressing concern over the welfare of Community Health Practitioners most especially those posted to rural areas, Comrade Yahaya Ahmed called for more measures that would improve their renumeration and welfare this year towards boosting their productivity and enhance effective healthcare delivery.

He advocated upgrade of Primary Healthcare Centres through provision of basic amenities most especially electricity, consumables, water supply among other facilities needed for primary healthcare delivery.

While identifying healthcare delivery as key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs 4, the National President of ACHPN enjoined Government at all levels to increase budgetary allocation to the health sector towards combating child and maternal mortality in the country.

Comrade Kabir Yahaya Ahmed called on some States Commissioners that are denying Community Health Practitioners to practice in their State facilities to have a change of heart this year saying the action is contrary to the effort being made by the country to achieve the Universal Health Coverage.

The President of ACHPN stated that the Association would continue to compliment the efforts of Government towards repositioning the nation’s primary healthcare sector.
