Elder Abuse Must End, Says First Lady

She made the appeal during the 2026 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, themed “Beyond Awareness: Making Elder Abuse Prevention Work.
”According to her, many elderly citizens continue to experience physical, emotional, financial, and psychological abuse in different communities across the country.
Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of strengthening care systems, community support, and social protection structures as Nigeria’s population continues to age.
She reminded Nigerians that aging is a natural process and urged citizens to show greater respect and appreciation for older persons who have made valuable contributions to society.
