The Emir of Daura has conferred the traditional title of Sarkin Filayen Kasar Hausa on Dr. Sulaiman Ibrahim PD, making him the first person to occupy the newly created position.

The historic conferment took place on Saturday at the palace of the Emir of Daura and attracted traditional rulers, government officials, business leaders, academics, professionals, community leaders and other dignitaries.

The ceremony was marked by prayers, cultural displays, goodwill messages and expressions of support for the new title holder.

Emirate Cites Integrity, Professionalism

Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Daura, the Secretary of the Daura Emirate said the decision to confer the title followed extensive consultations and assessment of Dr. PD’s character, integrity, trustworthiness, professional competence and contributions to the land and property sector.

The Emirate stressed that the title was not merely an honorary recognition but a position carrying important responsibilities.

Dr. PD is expected to use the new platform to promote transparency and fairness in land administration, protect the legitimate interests of citizens and strengthen relationships among landowners, tenants, estate agents, professionals and government authorities.

Dr. PD Pledges Service

Responding after his installation, Dr. Sulaiman Ibrahim PD expressed appreciation to the Emir of Daura and the entire Daura Emirate for the confidence reposed in him.

He described the title as a call to greater service and responsibility, rather than an avenue for personal prestige.

Dr. PD pledged to deploy his experience and position to support initiatives aimed at addressing challenges in Nigeria’s land and property sector, particularly in Abuja and other parts of the country.

He said he would work with government institutions, professional bodies and other stakeholders to tackle land-related disputes, fraud and unlawful dispossession of property owners.

He also called for greater public awareness, urging Nigerians to follow due legal processes when acquiring land and conducting property transactions.

Calls for Collaboration

The newly installed Sarkin Filayen Kasar Hausa called for stronger collaboration between traditional institutions, government agencies, professional organisations, estate agents, landowners and members of the public.

According to him, effective cooperation among stakeholders would help reduce land disputes and fraudulent property transactions while improving confidence in the sector.

He further encouraged stakeholders to support initiatives that promote peace, justice, security and sustainable development.
