Farewell to a Woman of Faith: Opara Family Set to Lay Mother to Rest

The remains of Late Chief Mrs. Christiana Opara, mother of the Pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Prof.

John Kennedy Opara, will be laid to rest on Friday, August 7, 2026, in Imo State.

Late Chief Mrs. Opara peacefully passed on to eternal glory on May 7, 2026, at the age of 83.
She was remembered throughout her lifetime as a devoted Christian, a God-fearing woman, and a respected community leader who dedicated herself to the welfare of women, children, and the less privileged.
The funeral rites began with a Requiem Mass held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja. The family will also hold a Night of Praise in her honour on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Umuopara Nguru Obetiti, Aboh Mbaise, Imo State.
The Burial Mass and Interment will take place on Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Umuopara Nguru. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and other relatives, including Prof. John Kennedy Opara, Pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission and Chairman of CSS Global Integrated Farms, Gora, Nasarawa State.
The family described her life as one of fulfilment and exemplary service, noting that her contributions to her community and beyond will remain fondly remembered.
May the soul of Late Chief Mrs. Christiana Opara, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace. Amen.
